It is with very great sadness that I learnt about Uwe passing away and would like to convey my deepest condolences.

As program manager of ATV, I had numerous opportunities to meet and work with Uwe in Bremen, the Netherlands or Kourou and will always remember him as this tall, strong, friendly, hard working and extremely professional colleague. He was really second to none to solve propulsion fluidic issues, with calm even under the most stressful conditions as he was used to during launch campaigns.

The fact that you have selected a picture from ATV for the obituary notice is a great sign of Uwe’s engagement and passion for what he was doing and of the community of his friends all around in Europe mourning him. We will be missing Uwe greatly.
