Dear Uwe's family, friends and colleagues,

Like many of us, I met Uwe during the ATV "Jules Verne" campaign that began in Bremen, and which we continued in Noordwijk and Kourou. We then met more rarely but we were always happy to meet again. I learned about Uwe’s passing of with great sadness. It is a real shock as Uwe always gave the image of a "quiet strength". I am very happy and proud to have known and to have this chance to work with Uwe around a common passion. I will remember Uwe as a whole person, devoted and extremely kind.
My thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues, to whom I express my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences.
